East Texas
I was born in East Texas in 1940, in Kilgore, a small town best known as the location of the biggest oil find in the United States up to that time. I left a couple of years later but relatives and imagined memories are still there so return frequently and it is where I undertook my first sustained photo project in and around Winona, a small town of about 300 people. It is still there and has a few more people but not too many, but may grow because in recent years it has gained two legal liquor stores. These are some of my favorite early photographs which are included in Winona 1970-73.
