The McClung House
The McClung House was once one of the finest homes in Winona. When I photographed it in 1971-72 it was long abandoned and looked forlorn haunted house, surrounded by weeds at the end of a very rutted McClung Street. I was told by relatives it had once been the home of the town banker who experienced financial difficulties, left town to live in jail for a few years and returned some years later, moving into a smaller house, which he rarely left. The house has been rehabilitated, restored to its former glory, and is presently occupied. But the McClung Street could use some work.
