Tyler

The family home was in Tyler, 508 South Bonner Street. I was a modest one-story, six room bungalow that dated from the early. When I visited East Texas in the years 1970-72 I always used this house as my base of operations. After the death of my father in 1972 the house was sold for less than $10,000. I didn’t take many photographs in Tyler; it was where I spent the night and time in the hospital. I wish I’d taken more because it was and is a good location. Recently, I've been able to go back and fill in some gaps. Many of the places I remember have changed but the feeling of the town has not. But I do miss Battee's Barbecue and I'll probably never learn why the washing machine was up on poles above the peaked roof.
