My first visit to a European country was in 1976 and England was the destination. It made a profound impression and I’ve returned as many times as possible either on ocean liners or airplanes. I have only undertaken two photographic projects in England, in High Gate Cemetery and the charming seaside town of Brixham; the other pictures are more or less one-offs from various locations that appealed to me at the moment. I’ve never had enough time on the ground to do anything more exhaustive but perhaps that will come another day.
